8 Ways the Paleo Diet Can Heal Your Body
Following the Paleo diet can help with myriad of diseases and conditions because of its two step process of cutting out the bad and replacing it with healthy choices. Here are 8 specific conditions you can expect to improve when you follow the Paleo plan.
1. Provides You with Antioxidants to Help Prevent Cancer
A big part of the Paleo diet is eating vegetables, many of which contain phytonutrients and antioxidants that will help battle the damage done by free radicals. Some of the top recommended Paleo foods are also listed as the best foods to eat to avoid getting cancer. It’s not just a coincidence that our ancestors had it right, many of the Neolithic foods introduced into our society are actually doing more harm than good.
Paleo foods that help you ward off cancer: Tomatoes, broccoli, garlic, strawberries, carrots and spinach. You’ll also be cutting out foods that have shown to lead to increased cancer risk: refined sugars, as well as artificial sweeteners and flavors found in prepackaged foods.
2. Helps the Brain Function Better to Prevent Depression
Paleo helps with excess inflammation which can be a major contributing factor to depression. Eating foods that are known to be anti-inflammatory is one way you can have a direct impact on the way you feel. When you stop the constant influx of man-made chemicals found in most commercially available food, and eat the way nature intended, your entire body chemistry shifts, and you’ll experience a better mental state as well as improved cognitive function.
It’s all about momentum. When you start feeling better emotionally you’re more likely to want to get up and do things. When that happens you start having more fun, causing you to feel better and the cycle continues. Momentum works both ways, and it starts with the quality of the food you eat, so be sure to choose foods that move you forward, not backward.
3. Supplies Enough Protein to Help with Anxiety
Running low on protein can leave you susceptible to higher levels of anxiety, and on Paleo you’ll be getting plenty of protein in the form of lean meats that will help in this area. Protein also helps your body build lean muscle, so your physique will change. your metabolism increases, and you’ll lose weight. More lean muscle and a healthier body weight will both contribute to less anxiety and more calm and wellbeing in your life.
There are many factors that contribute to anxiety, so be sure to talk with your doctor if you’re experiencing attacks that won’t go away with lifestyle adjustments.
4. Protects You from Autoimmune Disorders for Thyroid Health
One of the ways a Paleo diet helps is by eliminating grains from your diet, thereby effectively taking out gluten as well, which can help with autoimmune disorders like Hashimoto’s disease, which attacks the thyroid, slowing down its proper function in a condition known as hypothyroidism.
Thyroid health plays such a big part in how you feel on a day to day basis that this improvement alone could make a life-changing difference. Our early ancestors didn’t even know they had what we call a thyroid, but it didn’t matter, they were eating a diet that helped it function naturally.
5. Provides Anti-Inflammatory Benefits for Arthritis Relief
The Paleo diet is full of foods that help curb inflammation, and this can mean big relief from arthritis pain and symptoms. If you’re relying on medication to treat your arthritis pain, you should try the Paleo diet to see if it makes any improvement to your condition. The consistent consumption of so many healthy foods, fresh vegetables and healthy fats from nuts and seeds has been shown to be an effective natural treatment for inflammatory conditions of all types.
6. Spurs You Into Exercising to Battle Obesity
When you go Paleo you’ll be holding back from foods that can slow you down and make you feel lethargic. Instead you’ll be eating foods that are proven to give you more real energy. With this excess energy you’ll feel like exercising more, which produces a synergistic effect and helps you quickly slim down to a weight that is healthy for your body type and size.
This will naturally bring your BMI down to healthy levels, and keep you away from the overweight and obese side of the chart. Obesity is a precursor for a host of diseases, and is an epidemic Americans have been fighting for quite some time. It’s no coincidence that America is also the country that has pursued agriculture to a staggering degree and adds the most toxins to their food compared to any other country.
7. Avoids Additives to Clear Up Acne
Once you remove the preservatives, chemicals, and other additives from your diet you should notice an improvement in the amount of acne and other blemishes on your skin. If you’ve tried all sorts of cleansers and topical treatments, try changing your diet and you’ll be surprised at what a difference it makes. Your acne might get worse at first as you adjust to a new way of eating, but when it starts receiving nutrients, and you make up for any nutritional shortages, an improved skin condition must follow.
8. Plenty of Fiber to Relieve Constipation
With plenty of vegetables being eaten at every meal, Paleo is sure to boost your fiber levels and prevent bouts of constipation from ruining your day. Increased fiber intake from real food, not from a laxative or phony “fiber bars” at the store is the only way to give your body what it’s really asking for. Fiber from vegetables and fruits is the kind of fiber that our bodies evolved with, and it’s what we still need, proven time and time again by clinical studies.

oh my where do I start????/ Paleo has been a part of my lifestyle for a good two years now when I also discovered Crossfit..It has literally changed my whole life from the way I think, cook, eat, exercise and just my whole wellbeing..I feel like the fog has been taken away in front of my eyes..
Three months ago I moved to a new mining town called Moranbah as my daughter lives here and I wanted to be closer to her..I have now started my own little home based business where I cook and sell clean food to the public and also giving them a bit of an insight into Paleo.. Every morning I start of with a super green Smoothie and quite a few locals are coming on board..Within a short 6 weeks one lady has already dropped 6 kg, she has totally cleaned out her pantry and fridge and she has transformed her whole life.. This makes my heart sing wow, I am so grateful and humble to making a difference in other people’s lives..
My Dream ?? To have my own version of a Paleo cafe doing it from home and helping people transform their life..
Way to go Ruth! That’s awesome!
I have been up and down with my weight all of my life. I am very active on a daily basis. I go to the gym for at least one hour of cardio per day. Unfortunately it seems like no matter how much and hard i push myself it is to no avail. I am 40 years old and not loving myself so how can anyone else? Tired of beating myself up.. time for a change! Although i can feel myself tone up i don’t lose weight and i lose faith.. time for a change. Today is November 22 researched this lifestyle change the whole day.. tomorrow will be the start of me truly being happy with who i am. Wish me well.
Best wishes for success! it would be great to hear an update!
Since I adopted the Peleo style, I have lost 22 pounds, enjot
eating and exercising. This lifestyle enhanced my energy level.
All of these are so true- and more! Paleo really does heal the body, mind, and spirit! I have chronic fatigue, sensative skin/hives, hair loss, clinical depression and anxiety disorder, and lots of other issues including obesity. Last year I went Paleo for almost a year and cleared up ALL of these issues including a 60 lb weight loss. (Effortlessly) i am a carb/sugar addict- which creates a constant insatiable appetite. While Paleo I was never hungry, no cravings, and sometimes had to remind myself to eat! Had so much energy I wanted to exercise all the time!
BUT THEN: I allowed myself to eat carbs for the holidays and can’t get back to Paleo yet- but when I do get clean- you can bet that I have learned my lesson! All my ailments came back with a vengeance! I know now how crucial it is for me to get back to Paleo! I urge everyone to do this- it will change your life!
I can personally attest to the fact that Paleo WILL change your life for the better! I suffered from back surgery for years and gained almost 100 pounds bc I couldn’t do any physical activity to any effectiveness and the nasty processed stuff in our home. Started Paleo about 8 months ago and I’ve lost almost 70 lbs as of today’s date!!!! My sister was recently diagnosed with Hashimotos and the paleo diet has literally saved her quality of life (let alone seems to be reversing it to a degree). This is after almost 4 years of ‘conventional’ treatment with no results!
So if anyone is hesitating bc it seems too big to take on or that you’ll be denying yourself tasty foods I can promise you will be happy with anything you cook under this lifestyle. Good luck to everyone and know everything & anything is possible as long as you believe it.
Since beginning Paleo (started with AIP and added back nuts and tomatoes), I’ve lost 27 pounds, started exercising daily, cut back on blood pressure and thyroid meds, feel less foggy, and have less problems with menopause symptoms. I finally had an endocrinologist suggest it, but only recently. Before, doctors told me to eat plenty of whole grains, low fat, and severely restrict calories. I only gained weight, felt terrible, and took more meds. I wish I had done this twenty years ago! Get the word out!
HOW do I change my eating habits when my husband doesn’t get it and won’t make the change wth me?!?!?
If the processed stuff is in front of me, I’m going to eat it!
I’ve been trying to go paleo for 2 years now and he keeps asking when I’m going to give this up. He doesn’t think it helps…
I’ve been recently diagnosed with ms and am trying to ward it off before it gets bad.
We go out to eat, restaurants don’t have paleo meals, we go to friends for dinner, they don’t cook paleo and so I’m stuck eating processed food.
I guess I’m going to have to buckle down and say, this is it…this is what I’m fixing, eat it or go hungry. Lol and start taking my own food to eat when friends/family invite us over…how rude will that be!?!?
But it’s so expensive to eat paleo! The meat and veggies are cheap enough unless you start buying organic and hormone free, etc.
Ugh, rant over! Sorry!
I’ll figure it out but I feel so alone in this process!
My reason for starting Paleo was a pain in my feet and hands. I could barely walk when I got out of bed in the morning. I read The Paleo Solution at the urging of a friend and got on board the next day. I strictly followed the Paleo diet and within six weeks all pain was gone. I continued with the diet and discovered multiple benefits, including no longer experiencing sinus infections. I had battled them for 20 years, having 3-8 sinus infections a year! My last sinus infection had me on antibiotics for 56 days, three different antibiotics. Since Paleo I have not had a sinus infection in six years!!! Way more benefits, enough to write a small book, but had to share this testimony to convince others to at least try it.
I have been living the paleo way for about 2 years now. I went on it to help cancer cells on my cervix. Not only am I clear, lost 15 KG ( with no exercise) fibrescans on my liver have dropped from dangerous to normal, no longer have migraines, have lots of energy, have a better sleep, menopause symptoms have disappeared. An autoimmune skin condition that I developed from the stress my body went under during my cancer cell cervix issue is disappearing too. My mental well being is in a much better state now too. All this from going paleo. I love it and tell anyone who will listen. The kids even love the paleo desserts I make. Thanks to Paleo I have my life back. I am 53 years old and always get the compliment that I look like I’m in my 30’s. Eating clean works.
I forgot to mention that my high blood pressure and cholesterol is back to normal Too
Hi, I am interested in your offer, I have Hashimoto. I also have an allergy to nighshades, I don’t know “what’ to eat anymore. Everything has tomatoes and peppers in some form. Eating out has become ” not enjoyable” any more. Do you have a section for people with nightshade problems?
