How to Make Honey Dijon Sheet Pan Chicken
This is going to be a 2-step recipe. You’ll start by first making the honey Dijon chicken:
- Combine the ingredients. Add the olive oil, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, honey, and 2 minced garlic cloves to a small bowl and mix to combine.
- Season. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Coat the chicken generously. Add the chicken to a shallow bowl or dish and then top with the Dijon mustard mixture. Flip the chicken once or twice to make sure it’s thoroughly coated.
- Marinate. Allow the chicken to sit and marinate for a minimum of 15 minutes. This is an important step and will allow your chicken to soak up all of the flavors of the marinade.
- Preheat the oven. While the chicken is marinating, preheat your oven to 425℉.
- Bake for approximately 15 minutes. Use a thermometer to ensure that your chicken reaches the required internal temperature.
- Add the Brussels sprouts. Detailed instructions on how I prepare the Brussels sprouts are below.
- Bake again. Return the chicken and Brussels sprouts to the oven for an additional 20 minutes or until the sprouts are crispy.
- Serve. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
How to Make Garlic Roasted Sheet Pan Brussels Sprouts
While your honey Dijon chicken is baking in the oven, you can start to get the garlic roasted Brussels sprouts ready to go:
- Combine the ingredients. Add the Brussels sprouts, olive oil, and 3 minced cloves of garlic to a large bowl and mix to combine.
- Season. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Pair with the chicken. Once your honey Dijon chicken is out of the oven, arrange the Brussels sprouts mixture around the chicken on the baking sheet.
- Bake. Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until the Brussels sprouts are crispy.
- Serve. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
2 Tips for Baking Chicken in the Oven
Is your baked chicken turning out too dry? I used to struggle quite a bit with the same problem.
Here are a couple of simple tips that helped me master my technique:
- A little extra olive oil can go a long way. One of the most underrated tips for getting your baked chicken to turn out perfectly moist is to simply rub the chicken with a bit more olive oil. Adding extra olive oil helps to add more moisture to the chicken and it even has the added benefit of helping any seasoning mixtures being used to stick to the chicken better.
- Make sure the chicken is properly thawed. Believe it or not, but another common cause of dry oven baked chicken is that the meat simply wasn’t thawed out enough. You should make sure that your chicken is at the very least at room temperature before you bake it.
3 Incredible (and Proven) Brussels Sprouts Health Benefits
I still find it shocking how not many people seem to realize what an absolute superfood Brussels sprouts are. In fact, here are 3 of the most impressive health benefits that can be gained by adding Brussels sprouts to your diet:
- Great for your gut health. Brussels sprouts are a rich source of dietary fiber, which has many proven benefits for your gut health. Fiber doesn’t just help with keeping bowel movements regular. It also helps to strengthen your immune system and even protects against certain types of cancer, such as colorectal cancer. (1)
- Protects against inflammatory diseases. As with all cruciferous veggies, they’re also an excellent source of disease fighting antioxidants. Numerous studies have established a definitive link between regular consumption of cruciferous vegetables and a reduced risk of mortality from inflammatory diseases like heart disease. (2)
- Helps regulate blood sugar levels. Furthermore, several studies have also found that eating Brussels sprouts can help to decrease your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. This is partly thanks to their high fiber content, which helps with preventing blood sugar spikes on top of all of the other gut-related benefits. (3)
