Sometimes the best paleo snacks are frozen ones. Wether it’s because of hot weather, after a workout or just because you want to feel light and energized instead of weighed down. If you’re looking for something cool and refreshing, these are our favorite frozen snacks of all-time, from our addictive frozen chocolate banana bites to homemade mini orange creamsicles.
1. Mini Orange Creamsicles
This frozen paleo snack recipe introduces a new way to use your ice cube trays. Fill the shallow trays with orange juice and coconut milk to make mini popsicles for the summer! They are a great way to cool down on hot days, and are still good for you. You also have the option of adding small diced fruit into the popsicles.
3/4 cup orange juice
2 tbsp honey
3/4 cup full-fat coconut milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
1. Combine the orange juice and honey in a small bowl. In a separate bowl, whisk together the coconut milk and vanilla.
2. Alternate pouring the orange juice and coconut mixtures into an ice cube tray. Cover the tray with aluminum foil and poke popsicle sticks into each cube. Freeze for 4-5 hours before serving.

2. Frozen Banana Nut Bites
Sometimes Paleo snacks can be incredibly straightforward and simple, such as making a frozen treat out of bananas and almond butter. This recipe is especially handy for when bananas are ripening faster than you can eat them. Use popsicle sticks for easy snacking.
3 ripe bananas
2 tbsp almond butter
Chopped walnuts, optional
1. Mash half of one banana and mix it with the almond butter. Set aside.
2. Slice the remaining bananas into 1/2-inch thick pieces and place them on a plate lined with parchment paper. Spread the almond butter mixture on half of the banana slices and place in the freezer for 20 minutes to set. Top with the other banana halves and secure with a popsicle stick. Place in the freezer for 2 hours before serving. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts if desired. Store in a resealable bag in the freezer.
3. Frozen Fruit Skewers
This cool, refreshing treat is popular for hot summer days. Pick out your favorite fruits, dice them, and place onto skewers for a healthy frozen paleo snack. After a couple of hours in the freezer they will be ready to enjoy. Drizzle with melted chocolate or serve with a side of whipped coconut cream for an added touch of decadence.
1 mango, peeled and cubed
1/2 pint strawberries, hulled and halved
2 kiwis, peeled and cubed
1 cup seedless red grapes
1. Alternate placing the mango, strawberries, kiwis, and grapes onto skewers. Set the skewers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and place in the freezer. Freeze for at least one hour. Thaw for 5 minutes before serving.
4. Chocolate Banana Bites
This chilled snack is amazingly easy to assemble and store. Chop up bananas, drizzle with dark chocolate, and sprinkle with coconut flakes – done! Grab a few frozen banana slices whenever you need a sweet, chocolaty treat.
4 bananas, cut into 1-inch slices
4 oz. dark chocolate
1 tsp coconut oil
2 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes
1. Line a large plate with parchment paper. Place the banana slices on the plate, on skewers if desired.
2. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in a glass bowl in the microwave. Drizzle the banana slices with the chocolate and sprinkle with coconut flakes. Place in the freezer for an hour to chill before serving. Store in the freezer.
5. Banana Ice Cream
Dairy-free, Paleo ice cream is incredibly easy to make with frozen fruit. This recipe blends frozen bananas with almond milk and almond butter for a tasty, sweet, and nutty treat. No ice cream machine is required, just a blender. Add your favorite topping to the simple ice cream, such as fresh fruit, shaved chocolate, or sliced almonds.
3 ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
5-6 tbsp almond milk
2 tbsp almond butter
Dark chocolate, for garnish
1. Place the bananas in a Ziploc bag and freeze overnight.
2. Add the banana slices to a blender with the almond butter. Add in the almond milk a little at a time until the mixture reaches the desired consistency. Serve immediately, topped with shaved dark chocolate if desired.
6. Chocolate Kiwi Bites
Frozen slices of kiwi covered in a thin layer of dark chocolate make for a tasty, healthy chilled treat. First freeze the pieces of kiwi and then dip them in dark chocolate prepared over a doubled broiler. Coconut oil is mixed in with the chocolate to make it thinner. If desired, add a popsicle stick to the pieces of kiwi before freezing to make them easier to eat.
4 ripe kiwis
8 oz. dark chocolate
1/3 cup coconut oil
1. Peel the kiwi and slice into 1-inch rounds. Place on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least one hour.
2. Prepare a double broiler. Melt the chocolate with the coconut oil, stirring regularly until smooth.
3. Dip each slice of kiwi into the melted chocolate and place back on the lined tray. Refreeze for one hour before serving.
7. Dipped Strawberries and Cream
This is a very simple frozen treat with classic flavors similar to strawberries and cream. Fresh strawberries are dipped in whipped coconut cream and then placed in the freezer to chill. You can also drizzle them with melted chocolate or sprinkle with toasted coconut flakes. Let the bites thaw for about 5 minutes before eating.
1 14.5-oz can coconut milk, chilled overnight
2 tsp honey
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 lb. strawberries
1/4 cup melted dark chocolate, optional
1. Place a metal bowl in the freezer for 5 minutes. Scoop the thickened cream from the top of the chilled can of coconut milk. Place into the chilled bowl.
2. Use a hand blender to whip the coconut cream, vanilla, and honey together for about one minute or until smooth.
3. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Dip each strawberry into the whipped coconut cream and set on the baking sheet. Place into the freezer until solid. If desired, drizzle with melted chocolate. Store in the freezer.
8. Peach Sorbet
This recipe is labeled as sorbet instead of ice cream since it is completely dairy-free, but it is still the same concept. The snack is a great way to cool down with something sweet on a hot day. This delicious sorbet is made with frozen peaches and maple syrup. Add in the almond milk a little at a time until the sorbet reaches the consistency you desire.
1 cup frozen peaches
5-6 tbsp almond milk
1 tbsp maple syrup
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
1. Add the peaches to a blender with the maple syrup and vanilla. Add in the almond milk a little at a time while blending until the mixture reaches the desired consistency. Serve immediately.
9. Strawberry Sorbet
This recipe for fruity sorbet is a light and refreshing way to cool down in the summer. As an added bonus there are only four ingredients necessary, and you do not need an ice cream maker. Frozen strawberries are blended with mainly orange juice to make this easy chilled treat.
1 cup frozen strawberries
1/4 cup fresh orange juice
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1-2 tsp honey
1. Add the strawberries to a blender with the lemon juice and honey. Add in the orange juice a little at a time while blending until the mixture reaches the desired consistency. Adjust sweetness to taste. Serve immediately.

10. Green Fruit Salad
This is a different kind of green salad. All sorts of different textures and flavors about in this easy fruit bowl, inspired by a recipe from MarthaStewart.com. Grapes, apples, kiwis, and honeydew are all packed into this nutritious vitamin-packed recipe. Freeze the grapes and kiwis ahead of time to make it a cool summer treat.
2 cups green grapes, halved
2 kiwis, sliced
1 green apple, cored and thinly sliced
4 cups honeydew melon, diced
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup water
5 sprigs thyme
1. Place the grapes and kiwis on a rimmed baking sheet and freeze for one hour.
2. Meanwhile, warm the honey and water in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the thyme sprigs. Once the honey is dissolved into the water, remove the pan from heat. Let cool completely, then remove the thyme sprigs.
3. Combine the apple and honeydew in a large bowl. Add the frozen grapes and kiwi. Drizzle the fruit with the honey mixture right before serving.
11. Chocolate Almond Banana Squares
This sweet dessert is actually packed with nutritious ingredients. And it doesn’t even require any baking – all you need is a food processor. Bananas and chocolate make this a decadent treat, one that will give you energy and help your metabolism. Store them in an airtight container in the freezer.
For the base:
1 cup walnuts
1/2 banana, mashed
1/2 cup coconut flakes
Pinch of salt
For the top:
1/4 cup almond butter
2 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tsp honey
1. Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with wax paper. Place the walnuts in a food processor and pulse until coarsely ground. Add the remaining ingredients for the base and process until the mixture starts to clump together. Spread into an even layer in the bottom of the baking pan.
2. Add the ingredients for the top layer in the food processor and pulse until mostly smooth. Spread into an even layer over the bottom mixture. Place in the freezer for 1 hour to harden. Cut into squares to serve.
