This recipe can be ready in 5 minutes. How’s that for a quick pick-me-up? And you can easily double or even triple it to serve more. I highly recommend using frozen bananas (or berries, if you want to use those instead) instead of ice, because ice further dilutes the flavor.
When adding water to the shake, remember that you can always add more. Start slow – depending on your preferences, the shake can be thinned out or velvety smooth. You can use coconut or almond milk, whichever you have on hand. I love using up leftover canned coconut milk from other recipes this way. Keep in mind that coconut milk adds its own flavor, while almond milk blends into the other flavors of the shake more.
You simply combine all of the ingredients in a blender – or large glass if you are using an immersion blender – until smooth. Then taste it to see if you want to add more almond butter, chocolate, etc. I garnished mine with some shredded dark chocolate bits as well.

- 2 frozen bananas
- 1.5 tsp dark chocolate cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- Pinch of cinnamon
- In a large cup (if using an immersion blender) or a blender, combine ingredients and blend until smooth. Add more water if necessary to reach desired consistency. Serve immediately.
